We very much welcome beginners [Creative Directors] wishing to develop long-term collaborations and partnerships with serious [Creative Artists] and establish their business professionally
While we are delighted to collaborate with up-and-coming creative direction talents, introducing them to team members we spent time energy and valuable resources into building, we would like to stress out that we reserve the right to terminate any started engagement (previously agreed on) should we believe that the behaviour or attitude of our newcomers collaborators does not match our team expectations, decorum or integrity.
During a [CRAFT INTRO] session,
Bijou in person or a senior team member appointed by [Alacarte Model Agency] / AIMs Creatives London is present to observe the way a trainee artists or beginner manages his/her creative session
Purpose been to assess whether a potential short or long-term collaboration with the [Creative Directors] can be a fruitful partnership or not.
Many agencies and organisation in London are reluctant to give the chance to up-and-coming talent. From experience it can easily turn into chaotic situations, mainly due to many [up-and-coming talents] lack of experience, professional decorum or simply maturity. Organisation in the right frame of mind especially in the current state of the UK would agree to waste time and money trying to help young talent rise to the job.
Therefore it is the most responsibility of any any invited talents to demonstrate solid self-motivation as well as initiative when given the rare opportunity to team-up with any of our creatives team
Finally we hope you can appreciate the opportunity and in return create a video testimonial video (preferably) sharing your experience with our global clients, audience and partners.

Originally a [test-shoot] used to be called the [TPT / time for print] back in the days where there was no digital. Models would then collaborate with creative teams kickstart, develop or improve their portfolio
Nobody would get paid
There will be no exchange of money whatsoever unless specific expenses would be negotiated in advance for who-ever is concerned whether the model is the photographer the make-up artist or else (ie: travelling, food etc...)
And the models would receive pictures/prints in return for their time worked
[Test-Shoots] are a great way for new faces model to develop their portfolio as well as for creative artists to grow their nowadays online presence and back in the days the business on paper.
TEST-SHOOTS became so popular for many decades, especially during the digital golden era, to the point of disastrous results due to so many creative teams lack-of-experience not to mention so many up-and-coming talents relying way to much on digital technology to mask their lack of expertise.
Model agency wasted a lot of time and money model would grow tired of landing the time for pictures they could not use for their portfolio while some creative artist complained of never received the pictures lost in translation somewhere between technicalities and mood swings

Allthough [Test-Shootings] are a fabulous opportunity to help each other further our creative developments, due to the few points mentioned in the previous paragraph, we have now set up very basics rules that should make everybody's life easier.
LOCATION
Location is everything but need to be outsource very carefully.
Who ever initiates a test shoot opportunity should cater for finding the perfect location where is safety and Access ability is made easy for everybody.
You too often we have received they should opportunity for models having to cross London to reach areas difficult on foot by public transport or by train simply because it was close to the house the area of one of the creative artists who thought it would be a great idea
Unfortunately the greatest location sometimes are not functional especially with nowadays tight lips around working conditions, nudity and all the social stigmas would make it and savoury for models to have to change in odd places outdoor are in public toilets.
The best location especially for new faces models and new comers creative artist are either very famous landmark locations or simply rented facilities like local universities, establish London hotels or venues or private studios.

As during a test shoot, there is no exchange of money and the purpose is for every team member (creative artist) involved to benefit from donating their time and expertise to create a joint result in the form of pictures video or any creative platform previously agreed upon, every artist involved will bring the own equipment according to the aircraft
Usually the artist who initiated the [test-shoots] offer will need to supply sufficient guidance to the rest of the team, in the form of mood board or else, in order for everyone involved to understand the purpose of the shoot so thet they can provide their best relevant assistance.
Depending on each creative artist craft, it can be a daunting task and somewhat costly one to bring relevant level of equipments on a test-shoot location.
Unfortunately, it is everyone's responsibility to make sure they have the sufficient means of transportation ,insurance and/or logistic facilities to bring their own equipments with them on the due location.
And talking about insurance it is also everyone's responsibility to supervise their own equipments on location. The agency will not be responsible for any damages or loss of personal item belonging to creative artists

They should is a collaboration between a certain numbers of creative artists teaming up to create pictures video or any other creative art format.
As we mentioned previously nobody is paid for the time and no exchange of money is required.
Therefore it is understandable that all parties should be able to enjoy the fruits of their labour at least for promotional purposes.
[Alacarte Models] has a template of the shoot release form available to use when dictation should involve our models. It can happen that photographers creative directors or even make up and hair artist have their own template of shoot release.
In such scenario we simply negotiate the best way to cover everybody's copyright interests in the most and agreeable manner.
I said that I was the every creative party involved can use the pictures for promotional purposes with the understanding that whatever happens, the photographer is always the owner of the copyright (unless that right has been transferred in writing to another party of the test shoots usually the agency and of course depending on the circumstances of the test-shoot itself
- who initiated it
- who produced or covered the logistics costs etc...
- or simply by agreement
As not to shoot material can be used for selling or advertising purposes by the creative artists or any company associated with any of the creative artists involved during the test shoot, should anyone in the future offers to buy parts of the entire images/videos/else resulting from that TEST-SHOOT, it is usually agreed that
- the party sollicited for the purchase should contact all the other parties involved
- the monies offered to buy the outcome images/videos/else is split
* 33% for the copyright owner
* 33% for the model
* 33% to share EQUALLY between the rest of the team

You are young!
So are we to a certain extent
and we hope to last as long as possible
ok, joke aside...
From experience, we can testify that some shoot [post-production) can become the craziest episode following the most beautiful interactions ever, erasing. what should have been potential lifetime memories to cherish.
It happened in the past with [Alacarte Models] when we worked with very beginners creative talents to receive over to 700 pictures resulted from only 1 [test-shoot] with a new-face model. We all remember!
Post production should be made so easy especially if the production of the Thai shoot itself is tightly kept under control.
We usually recommend to photographers to shoot series of 12 shots/exposures max per [silhouette/look] by taking the time to set the location the props the garments to supervise that the make up is okay that the whole scenery is up to their liking before embarking on snapping away at models like underwater bullets.
I have to say and yet again back in the days, we used to send [contact-sheets] to the entire team to select their best desired shots, to ease the [pst-production] task for the [photographer] or the [Retoucher] if one is hired or is part of the original team. [Digital contact sheet] are still available through applications like Photoshop etc... They very useful in the process of picture selection and easy to share as 1 PDF or image
Overall,
- a model should be able to receive 4-8 great retouched mage per look/silhouette with the added bonus of receving 10-50 max other acceptable images for attending a shoot.
- Usually Make-up/hair Artists and Stylists would also welcome 10-50 great images with 4-8 also retouched per look. Unfortunately we strongly believe that [retouchers] and [post production team] should focus on generating images for the model in priority, with of course other agreements possible between the other creative team member. Some creative team member prefer to re-touch their pictures themselves and others would gladly accept the photographer's or [creative director's] choice of best images to use
Of course, it's all a matter of negotiation, as long as it is understood before the start of any unpaid TEST-SHOOTS collaboration
